Mahogany Messenger – February 23rd

Dear Mahogany Families,

We trust you enjoyed the slightly warmer temps this weekend! It was a tough loss for Canada this morning, but we are sure proud of all the Canadian athletes that represented at the 2026 Olympics. It’s looking like an awesome week ahead at Mahogany School with lots of exciting opportunities for students. To all families observing Ramadan throughout the month of February, Ramadan Mubarak!

Report Cards

Parents & guardians, your child’s report card will be available for viewing on Tuesday, February 24th through your MyCBE PowerSchool account. If your child’s learning is supported through an IPP, your child’s teacher will be (or has already) shared a copy of this with you. Teachers look forward to connecting with all parents in person at Parent Teacher Conferences on March 19th and 20th.

Readathon Starts this Week! Assemblies for Students – Tuesday

Thanks to our School Council and MSFA members who have helped organize this fundraiser for our school. It’s a big one and we are grateful to all families who are participating. All funds raised will support enhanced learning experiences for all students. The Read-a-Thon will run Feb 23-March 5th.

Thank you to Calgary Flames Player, Ryan Lomberg, who will join us this week for our assemblies. We are grateful to be able to host him at Mahogany School and are absolutely thrilled he will be highlighting the importance of reading with our students!

Students are invited to wear red or their Calgary Flames jerseys on Tuesday for the assemblies. Parents, as previously communicated – due to space limitations and fire code regulations – the assemblies are for students only.

Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday

The CBE recognizes Pink Shirt Day across all schools. As an organization, through Pink Shirt Day we honor the grassroots act of kindness and reaffirm our shared commitment to reducing bullying and creating welcoming, caring safe and respectful spaces for everyone. We look forward to seeing a sea of pink at Mahogany! Please have your child wear pink on Wednesday.

Grade 4 Offsite Learning This Thursday

Thank you to our Grade 4 teachers who have organized some awesome student learning experiences at Telus Science Center this week. Students will be extending their learning of science outcomes that day and will be continuing their learning in preparation for their future celebration of learning. Thank you, parent volunteers! We couldn’t make this learning happen without your engagement & support.

Thank You for Your Generosity – 2412 lbs of food ($8412.00)!

Mahogany, your generosity has made a significant difference for the Canadian Veteran’s Food Bank. Canadian Veterans Services Society reached out last week to Mrs. Theberge to share that over 2400 lbs of food, which equates to $8,412.12 of food on their shelves, was donated by Mahogany School during the food drive. Thank you!
