Mahogany Messenger – May 18th

Happy long weekend, Mahogany families. We hope you enjoy the Victoria Day holiday on Monday – reminder there is no school for staff or students. Thanks again to all of our volunteers to helped out last week with the Kindergarten field trips, the Grade 4 field trips or with our Grade 2 & 3 students who were swimming. Parents, please join us for our Volunteer Tea on Friday, May 29th from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Please RSVP here to save your spot!

Bussing Expectations & Reminders

Last week, we met with all students who ride the school bus regularly to review bus expectations. We have had bus drivers reach out and ask for our help to remind students about how important the bus is and how critical it is that drivers focus on the road and not on behaviors. We are asking you to please speak with your child(ren) about the importance of taking the bus and demonstrating safety & responsibility.

We’ve noticed a lot of students who, due to the beautiful weather, are enjoying riding their scooters & bikes to school instead of taking the bus. Please phone the office if your child is now riding his or her bike to school. Thank you!

Yellow School Bus Registration is Now Open for 2026-27

Families can now apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. To ensure service is in place for the first day of classes, registrations must be received by Sunday, June 14. Registrations submitted after this date will be accepted; however, access to bus routes may be delayed.  Confirmed bus routes will be posted for families who registered by the deadline in MyCBE in late August. Families can cancel without financial impact by submitting a cancellation form by Sept. 30.

Kicking off Wheel Week - Bike Parade – Monday, May 25th @ 7:30 am

Mrs. Theberge will be leading our school’s Bike Parade on the morning of Monday, May 25th. Students will meet at the Rock Park (Mahogany Blvd & Marquis Heights) and ride together. A few Officers from the Calgary Police Service will also be in attendance and riding with the parade. Members of CPS’s social media team may be there taking photos or video to use on their Social Media platforms. Officers will also be distributing water bottles to students when they arrive at the school. Thank you for helping to keep our students & community safe, CPS!

Sincerely,

Jill Scarrow & Christine Hewitt
