Thank You for Joining Us!

Parents, thank you for joining us last Thursday evening. We were thrilled with the turnout at our “Meet the Teacher” and grateful to the awesome parent volunteers who led & organized the BBQ. Thank you, also, to the parents who joined classroom teachers on Friday morning to discuss your child’s Individual Program Planning for the 2026-27 school year. Formal Parent Teacher Conferences take place on November 26th and 27th. This is an opportunity for all parents and guardians to meet classroom teachers one-on-one to discuss learning progress and achievements.

Mahogany School Kindergarten Families – Invite

We are pleased to offer a monthly Coffee & Conversation opportunity for our Kindergarten families. These informal gatherings are a wonderful way to connect with other families, meet new friends, and build our school community.

During these times, families will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet and connect with other Kindergarten families.
  • Learn more about Mahogany School.
  • Discuss topics and items that are relevant to Kindergarten students and families.
  • Ask questions and connect with members of our school community.

Mahogany School Observes Orange Shirt Day – Monday, September 28th

On Monday, our school community will observe Orange Shirt Day and honor the message, “Every Child Matters.” Please encourage your child to wear an orange shirt, or something orange. To learn more about Orange Shirt Day, see this short video. 

National Day of Truth & Reconciliation – Wednesday, September 30th

Reminder – there is no school for students. All CBE staff, students, families, friends, and neighbors are invited to continue learning and show support at the 5th annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day event taking place at the Confluence Historic Site on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. This important community gathering is a collaboration between the City of Calgary, CBE, Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, and The Confluence. For more information, visit City of Calgary events. FREE Parking! All Calgary Parking on-street parking is free on September 30 each year. 

Photo Day – Thursday, October 1st

K-5 students will have their individual photos taken throughout the day on Thursday. We will begin with our youngest learners and work our way up throughout the day. If you DO NOT want your child’s photo taken, please let your child’s classroom teacher know in advance. Retakes will take place in November, if your child is absent on Thursday.

Terry Fox Run – Friday, October 2nd

Huge thank you to Mrs. Theberge & our Leadership students for organizing this year’s Terry Fox Run. Students will be completing the run this Friday morning and have been working hard to set goals and learn about Terry’s Marathon of Hope.

Casino Fundraising – Please Volunteer!  

On October 14 & 15, we’ll be at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino raising money for our school, and this could be HUGE. Every shift we fill brings in about $2,000 for our school. Which means…40 shifts × ~$2,000 = potentially $80,000 for our kids. This isn't just fundraising for the sake of fundraising. This is money going directly back into our school and creating experiences, resources, and opportunities for our kids. No experience is needed. You’ll get training; it’s casual and fun, and food is provided! Volunteers can be grandparents, neighbors, aunts, uncles, or the person behind you in the grocery line.
