Dear Mahogany Families,
We look forward to seeing you on Monday morning! Mrs. Hewitt, Mrs. Clare, and I, along with the rest of the Mahogany staff, are thrilled to be welcoming your families back for a wonderful school year ahead. Students will meet their teachers at the designated location outlined in the welcome emails sent August 25th. All doors of the school are labelled and include maps for reference. School staff will be outside to greet families and transition students off the bus. We’ll be wearing brightly colored vests, and are all here to help families & students find their meeting spots. Teachers will gather students and head inside the building for 8:00 a.m. At that time, parents will say farewell for students’ first day of the 2026-27 school year. Please ensure you communicate your end-of-day plan with your child and his or her teacher.

Soft Entry – 7:45 am – Updated Supervision
Parents, please note that students are welcomed into the building at 7:45 am. Supervision will be inside the building with classroom teachers (not outside the building or on the playground). This ensures that students are properly supervised and ready to learn at 8:00 am when instruction begins. If your child attends 1st Class Before and After School Care, please ensure that they check in with their staff, if they arrive at school before 7:45 am. Thank you!
Lunch Organization for 2026-27
Parents, thanks for sending lots of healthy snacks and a full lunch for students. They will also need a labelled water bottle. This year, our lunch hours will be divided into two portions that allow students to play outside with less children and have greater supervision. Students will continue to have a fresh air break with their classroom teachers, in addition to lunch recess.
Bussing
If your child is registered for the bus but will not be riding, please inform the office daily (for example, if your child is getting picked up by another adult, riding his or her bike home, going to a friend’s etc.) We hold the bus until all students are accounted for so please ensure you are communicating your child’s attendance to our school office: mahoganyschool@cbe.ab.ca. Mrs. Hewitt will be working with all school bus riders to ensure they understand expectations and have an enjoyable ride over the coming weeks. Please work with us to help your child understand safe behavior on the bus. Thank you for your support.
Fence on West Side of School
Please note that landscaping is occurring on the west side of the school and fencing will be up for the duration of the fall and winter. Grade 4 students will still enter and exit Door B at the start and end of day.
Playground
On Friday, CBE Grounds poured fresh concrete on our playground with the expectation that it will be ready for students on Monday. We are excited to welcome students to play in this area once ready.

Parking & Student Safety

Hug and Go Lane
There is no parking in this area. Parents use this area to pick up and drop off only. Our school staff supports supervision of this area; however, we need to work together to ensure this area is showing continual movement and flow.
Save the Date – School Council Meeting
All parents and guardians are automatically members of our School Council. Your voice and input are valued. Please join us on September 8th for our first meeting at 6:00 pm in the front foyer of our school. The Mahogany School Fundraising Association meets directly after the School Council meeting. We look forward to seeing you!
