Hello Mahogany Families,

January is a month of new beginnings and reflection. For students it is about re-setting routines and finding their way back into the group plan each day while they dive into their learning. For teachers, it is a month of finalizing data and assessments and preparing report cards, IPPs and diving deep into a large body of evidence to demonstrate where students are in their learning. Working through the process of the final indicators on report cards is a large process involving calibration, connection and examination of many layers of student work. Our School Development Plan this year is focused on assessment, and while we are focused on writing as our data point, our work as a staff has been on creating authentic assessments and providing students with actionable formative feedback to move their learning forward. We know that feedback helps us to see things we may not see while in the work. It also provides us the opportunity to keep learning and improving each day. This ongoing cycle of improvement is what makes school such a rich environment of learning. We look forward sharing where students are in their learning journey with you on January 27, 2025, and with our ongoing conversations and work together. It takes a village and we are all in this together with one goal – student success.

Stay warm out there this weekend!

❤️
