Hello Mahogany Families

Heat wave, last week of May, Read-A-Thon Wrap Up, Kindergarten Orientation, Volunteer Tea ... I am sure there is much more that also took place this week! We also know that June is exciting, and it can be stressful for staff and students alike. We hope that you can embrace the days ahead as we dive headlong into June next week.

Today we had the opportunity to celebrate reading and the success of our amazing Read-A-Thon! It was an amazing day celebrating with all of our students who were Teacher-for-the-day, Assistant-Principal-for-the-day and Principal-for-the-day! We had students who co-taught, students who lead learning and created assignments, we had some student teachers rally for extra gym based on assignment completion and so much more. Our Administrators for the day made school wide announcements, after a hot chocolate and Admin Meeting to start the day. They also helped to open and close our Volunteer Tea celebration and shared some beautiful sentiments with our parents. They even helped us connect with each classroom and award the always coveted Golden Broom award for the tidiest hallway. It was a great experience for the students and so fun for all of us. Some student quotes from the day include: “These kids don’t listen easily, I don’t know how you teachers do it every day!”, “This is the best day ever!”, “I learned about leadership today.” It was fun to see how our students embraced their roles for the day. We are so happy for the amazing participation in our Read-A-Thon and all the students (and adults) who were inspired to read, read and read some more. We love that literacy won on so many levels with this incredible initiative. Thank you to everyone for all your support tracking, counting and recording all the reading minutes, tracking and accounting for all the donations and for encouraging kids to read and develop a deeper love of literacy.

Updates and Administrivia

Wheel Week - Bike to School Monday, June 2

Meet at the Wetland amphitheater at 7:30am Monday, June 2, 2025

"Wheel Week" is June 2 - 6.  We will kick it off with a wheel parade on June 2.  We will meet at the wetlands Amphitheater (click here for map for Amphitheater location) at 7:30am and ride our wheels over to the school.

Wheel Week is a week where students are encouraged to ride their bikes, scooters, or any wheeled devices to school for an entire week.  This event promotes physical activity and fosters a sense of community while being environmentally conscious.  By reducing the car traffic around the school, it contributes to safer streets and cleaner air.  Wheel Week encourages students to showcase their unique wheels and personalized rides.  This initiative aims to instill healthy habits, promote active transportation, and create memorable experiences for everyone involved.

Students are to have a lock for their rides, wear helmets, and any other safety gear.  If we run out of bike rack spaces, students can lock their bikes to the fence.  No bikes should be left unlocked.

Read-A-Thon

Read-a-Thon was an amazing success! We had our assembly this week to celebrate all of the reading and donations.

We are so excited to announce that we raised a total of $ 28 524 which will be used to support the purchase of school residency experiences, technology, and books!

And we had a total number of 312 370 minutes read! Mrs. Heidebrecht’s class won a pizza party for the most raised and Mrs. Wilson’s class won a pizza part for the most minutes read. Our
