Hello Mahogany Families,  

Tracy will be away next week heading to Wolfville, N.S. to watch her oldest son walk the stage at his University Convocation (graduation) from Acadia University. Acting Principal Micheline Huber will be filling in for Tracy.

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to express our deepest thanks to all our teachers for the invaluable contributions they make to our school community. Their unwavering commitment to excellence, creativity, and compassion inspires our students. Their impact extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. 

As we embrace the spirit of appreciation and gratitude, let's take the opportunity to promote healthy habits and environmental stewardship. This coming week is Wheel Week kicking off with our ‘Bike Parade’ on Monday morning at 7:45m. Biking to school is not only a fantastic way to stay active and reduce our carbon footprint, but it also fosters a sense of camaraderie and adventure and instills community among students and staff and families. The simple joy of pedaling through the fresh spring air reminds us to embrace nature, this beautiful community and take time to start the day in movement. 

Also, in the spirit of appreciation and gratitude, we would like to wish all our families who are celebrating Mother’s Day an amazing day filled with love and time to create some core memories together. Enjoy your day!

Traffic Updates 

We have had a great deal of success with the morning Hug n’ Go recently. Thank you all for your patience with each other as the traffic circle backs up closer to 8:00am. 

This week there was a vehicle incident on Mahogany Blvd. While parking for drop off one vehicle backed into another. Unfortunately, this was not resolved between the two vehicles. Please be safe during drop off and pick up. It is important to ensure that everyone is following traffic rules; speed, parking, respecting residential driveways. If you are involved in a traffic incident, please contact Calgary Police Services.

Upcoming 

Phys Ed Wellness Updates 

"Wheel Week" is May 13 - 16.  We will kick it off with a wheel parade on May 13.  We will meet at the wetlands Ampitheater (see attached map for Ampitheater location) at 7:30am and ride our wheels over to the school. 

Wheel Week is a week where students are encouraged to ride their bikes, scooters, or any wheeled devices to school for an entire week.  This event promotes physical activity and fosters a sense of community while being environmentally conscious.  By reducing the car traffic around the school, it contributes to safer streets and cleaner air.  Wheel Week encourages students to showcase their unique wheels and personalized rides.  This initiative aims to instill healthy habits, promote active transportation and create memorable experiences for everyone involved.    

Students are to have a lock for their rides, wear helmets and any other safety get up.  in case we run out of bike rack spaces; students can lock their bikes to the fence.  No bikes should be left unlocked.

Our next Mahogany School Council and Fundraising Association Meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:00pm. Please join us to be a part of this amazing school.
