Hello Mahogany Families

This coming week is Bullying Prevention Week. There are many ways in which we can support positive behaviors and create safe and caring environments for our students and children. The theme for this year is ‘Choose Respect’. We often share sentiments such as, ‘treat others the way you want to be treated’, or ‘do unto others as you would have done to you”. Respect is a choice. We can find many ways throughout the day where we interact with each other, from saying good morning, to hello as you pass someone on the street. There are little things that can turn out to be the light in someone’s day. I always say, you never know what someone is going through until you have a chance to sit down and listen to their story. In the hustle and bustle of the day it can be hard to take that time. You never know what impact you can have on another person. Words have power, they can set the tone of a conversation, inspire someone to make a change or send them on a bad path. It is easy to forget the power we hold in our words, and this is one of the most important lessons we can teach our students as educators. We have the opportunity each day to be the change and to inspire. We are all busy, it can be hard, it takes effort, and it takes practice to connect with others. Remembering your impact on others can be empowering and can empower others as well. Respect can be broken much more quickly than it can be gained. Take the time to listen, connect with someone’s story and be the inspiration as often as possible. Help foster a culture of respect and support.

Wishing you an inspiring weekend everyone!

National Bullying Prevention Week

This year the theme is Choose Respect.

Anti-Bullying Week is a nationwide initiative that highlights the issue of bullying and encourages individuals to take action against it. It emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of respect and support, where bullying is not tolerated, and every person is valued. We look forward to connecting with all of our Mahogany students next week with literature, resources and conversations.
