Hello Mahogany Families 

This has been a very challenging week...there have been many emotions and wonderings. Times of uncertainty are always challenging – this is one of the most challenging times we have faced in a long time. We know that being away from school is stressful, and changes in routines are difficult. We hope to be back into classes as soon as possible and we would like to thank you for the outpouring of support that we have heard and felt from so many of you this week. We look forward to being back to our regular routines and classes as soon as we can.

Updates and Administrivia

Labour Action

All classes are cancelled until further notice. Do NOT send your child to school, do NOT send your child to the bus. 

Teachers will send all student personal items home on Friday, October 3 (coats, shoes, backpacks etc.) there will be no access to the school classrooms and staff still working in the school will not be able to retrieve any items for you. 

Please access the CBE Labour Action Page for information and updates. Any significant changes will be communicated to you by CBE through email.

Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch

Please be advised the lunches with Subway October 9, 2025, and Dominos on October 23 2025 has been cancelled All ordered parents will be credited to their Healthy Hunger Balance Moving forward your school will keep you informed if any other lunches are affected If you have any questions please email support@healthyhunger.com 

School Council / Parent Society

The School Council and Parent Society meeting will be cancelled for October. Additionally, the Paul Davies Cyber presentation scheduled for October 30 for students and parent evening will also be cancelled with the hopes of re-rescheduling it for a later date.

Update on Modular Classrooms

The contractor is still working hard to complete the installation of the new modular classrooms and the CBE is keeping very close tabs on this progress. We have been told that they now anticipate this work will be completed until early October. For now, we will continue with our existing plan to accommodate classes in the school. We will provide more information as we are closer to the work being finalized and when we return to school. We appreciate your patience with these unexpected delays and hope to have new classrooms for our grade 5 students shortly.

Communication

Please note that the main office Mahogany email will continue to be monitored however, teachers and administration will not have access to email during labor action. Emails sent to teachers/administration will not be responded to. 

Before and After School

1^st Class Childcare will continue to operate at Mahogany School. Please refer to their communication for further information and updates. They will only have access to the gym and washroom areas. There will be no access to the classrooms to retrieve any student items.
