Hello Mahogany Families 

From a full moon, Red Sun, and power outages to wetland walks and learning galore ... It was a very eventful week, and we made it through together! September is always such an exciting and stress filled time with new groups of students, new teams, new schools for some. It is a sense of renewal and new beginnings and a comfort of the routine and rhythm of the day. There are always things that come up to get in the way of all of that, some of them I listed at the beginning of this message, the problems that we solve along the way each day, however there are always so many things that can bring us back to what got us here in the first place, and that is the children! It is the joy that they bring us through the little things. There are so many wins each day that we all have to celebrate. We work together to collaborate, find solutions and solve problems, create spaces for learning and to foster friendships, and that is the magic that is Mahogany. We are so grateful to have everyone together for such an amazing year.

School Clothing Swag

Mahogany Swag is back with some new additions this year.  Check out our new crew sweatshirt and basketball shorts.  Part of the proceeds go back to the school.  The last day to order is Sunday September 28.  Orders will be delivered to the school sometime in October.  Thanks for your support!

School Council / Parent Society

Please Join us! School Council and Parent Society is a great chance to find out what is happening in Mahogany and be involved in your child’s school. The school council meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Our next School Council Meeting will be on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:00pm at Mahogany School followed by our next Fundraising Association Meeting will follow, all parents/guardians are welcome to join! Front Dorr will be open at 5:45pm. Please join us in the Gathering Space at the front of the school. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Mahogany School Open House

This year we will be hosting an Open House style meet the Teachers evening on September 25, 2025, from 3:00-6:00pm. Families are invited to come to the school anytime during these hours to ‘drop-in’ and see your child’s classroom and meet the teacher(s). There will not be a sign up for this event. We also hope you will make this a fun family event by joining our School Council for a BBQ Picnic in the Hug n’ Go and back field to meet each other and have a chance to connect as a school community. (see below)

BBQ Picnic Invitation

Bring your picnic blankets and come meet your 2025–2026 Mahogany School community!

The Mahogany School Council is excited to invite you to our BBQ Picnic on Wednesday, September 25 from 3:00–6:00 PM, during the Mahogany School Open House. The Mahogany School Fundraising Association will be collecting donations to provide BBQ beef hot dogs, chips, and refreshments near the Hug-and-Go area. Feel free to bring your own picnic or extra snacks to enjoy at this first school social of the year.

Forms and Fees

You will receive an email from CBE shortly with details on how to access beginning of the year forms. All forms are to be completed online.

Individual classes will be sending a “getting to know you” form home next week, these are to be completed and returned to the school.

Medical Forms

Please complete a medical form if your child has any allergies or medical conditions, we need to be aware of. This form is also to be completed for any students who require medication at school or medication to be administered.

MyCBE / Powerschool

Create a MyCBE Account. Please make sure you have registered for your MyCBE account. Contact Trish Ross in the main office if you require your child’s CBE ID.

Busing and Transportation

Bus stop information is now available via your MyCBE. Busing is not managed at the school level. If you have any questions related to bussing, you should contact the CBE Transportation department via email at transportation@cbe.ab.ca.
