Hello Mahogany Families!
September ... the month where we start school, get back into routines and time seems to fly. With the warm weather and the shortening days, it feels like Fall is on its way. The school year is filled with the beginnings of last week, the firsts of this week and many more adventures to come. A new school year is such an opportunity for us all to ‘start fresh’ and be the best version of ourselves for ourselves.
Inspiration -The future of the world is in our classrooms today.
Weekly Wonder| The possibilities and opportunities for the future are boundless. While we may not know what the future holds for our students, we do know that they are the ones that hold the future in their hands...we can’t wait to see what they will do with it. How will you guide your children and help them to reveal the possibilities?
Updates and Administrivia
Parking
A successful start up! Thank you to all our families who have been parking in designated areas, using the crosswalks to cross and helping keep the Hug n’ Go flowing. We appreciate your support, and we have noticed that there has been a lot more safety for students each morning!
Nut Aware School
Mahogany has many students with severe allergies to nuts and nut products. We appreciate that you do not send nuts and or nut products to school with your children. Students with Nut products in their lunches will be assigned an alternate lunch eating area. Thank you for your support with this.
Walking Field Trips
We are so lucky to have two beautiful wetland areas within a short walking distance! Classes regularly spend time learning on the land in these areas. Teachers will email the night before they are heading to the wetland areas or are on a community walk withing our ‘walking field trip’ area.
The CBE does not require parents to fill out a consent form for children to go on a class trip that is walking distance from the school and where:
- walking is the sole method of transportation, and
- so long as the students will not be participating in a restricted activity as part of the trip.
This will allow teachers to take advantage of places close to the school such as parks or libraries.
There is not a set limitation on distance for walking field trips. Principals give final approval on the distance and destination for a walking field trip.
