Mahogany Messenger – Week of September 7th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope your first week of school was a success as you re-establish (or begin) new routines this fall. We’re also hoping the long weekend was awesome (reminder – no school on Monday, due to the Labour Day holiday), whether your family enjoyed spending time away, attending hockey evals at the rink, or simply having some downtime together after a busy first week of school. Thank you for your support last week. We recognize the challenges a new year can bring, as your child becomes familiar with their new classroom communities. We’re very proud of our students at Mahogany for their transition into the 2026-27 school year. We saw many smiles as friends reconnected. Students met their new teachers and made some new friends as well. Mrs. Hewitt, Mrs. Clare and all our staff are very much looking forward to the year ahead.

Back to School Safety

As we restart school routines, here are some safety strategies you may want to review with your children:

  • Walk with a friend or travel to and from school in a group.
  • Tell your parents or a teacher if you see anything that makes you feel unsafe.
  • Don’t talk to strangers and stay at arm’s reach or more away from strangers.
  • If someone you don’t know approaches you, immediately seek the support of a trusted adult.

Biking Safety:

  • Wear a helmet.
  • Wear bright or reflective clothing so drivers can spot you easily in early morning traffic.
  • Dismount and walk your bike across busy intersections if needed, or follow all posted pedestrian and cyclist traffic signals.

Keeping our students safe – please see here for information from The City of Calgary.

School Council Meeting – Tuesday @ 6:00 pm

Parents, please join us in the main foyer of our school on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm for our first School Council Meeting of the year. All parents and guardians are members and are welcome to join. The Mahogany School Fundraising Association will meet directly after.

Wet Weather This Week

Parents, thank you for sending your child to school ready to be outside for learning and for play. The forecast is looking wet for the upcoming week & students need to be prepared as we do go outside daily.

2026-27 Mahogany School Spirt Wear

Thank you to Mrs. Theberge for organizing the selling of our school’s merchandise. Please use this link to order. September 30th is the final day for orders, and all merch will be delivered to the school in late October and distributed to students upon arrival.
