Welcome Back 2023-2024
The first day of classes for students is Thursday, August 31, 2023. This will be a full day of classes for Grades 1-5 and staggered entry for all Kindergarten students.
We are so excited to begin our second year of Mahogany School together. We look forward to hearing all the exciting adventures of our returning students and learning about all of our new Mahogany students!

The possibilities are endless. A new year is just around the corner - we don't even have to flip the calendar as our first day of school begins on Thursday, August 31, 2023. We are looking forward to hearing all your summer stories.

School Fees, Communication, Lunchroom, Transportation
- Please Check / Create your MyCBE PowerSchool account. All parents must have a CBE PowerSchool account to access and pay fees, book school conferences, see report cards, etc. Please go to the MyCBE using the link below. This link is also available on the CBE website and our home page. When signing up for emails please note that we send weekly updates from classrooms and the school. If you are not registered for commercial email, you will not receive any information that involves financial transactions (fun lunch, fundraising, school events).

Mahogany 2023-24 Calendar
- The 2023-24 Mahogany Calendar has now been published on our school website. It contains an overview of all the key dates for the upcoming school year. It also has our school bell times (no changes), lunch times and a breakdown of when alternating Friday Kindergarten groups will be attending school. Information on specific events such as Healthy Hunger, assemblies and field trips will be communicated to families as they are scheduled throughout the year.
Office Open
- Our office will open again on Monday, August 28 at 9:00am. We hope you have all had a wonderful summer!
School Hours
- Grade 1-5 School Hours will be:
- Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–2:30 PM
- Friday 8:00 AM–12:00 PM.
- Grade 1-5 Lunch: 11:50-12:28
- We will alternate with half of the school eating first then outside for lunch recess with the other half of the school beginning outside for lunch recess then coming in to eat.

- AM Classes = 8:00am-10:50am
- PM Classes= 11:40am-2:30pm
- Fridays (Alternating) = 8:00am-12:00pm

School Supplies|
Basic school supplies for all Mahogany students will be supplied (pencils, notebooks, scissors, glue, etc.). Student supplies are purchased by the school and provided as part of your school fees. All students will have access to shared supplies in each classroom which are grade appropriate. Classroom teachers may send home lists of optional additional items once school begins in September. Items you will need to send with your child:
- A backpack large enough to hold a large library book
- Indoor shoes (these will stay at school)
- Before and After School Students will require an additional indoor pair
- Water bottle
- Lunch bag/snack bag
Please label everything you send to school - First and Last name are important so we can ensure clothing is returned to your child.
Homeroom Teachers and Class Assignments|
Families will receive notification of their child’s homeroom teacher on August 30th via school messenger email. This information will be accompanied by the first day of school plans as well as which doors your child will be using to enter and exit the building. All staff will be outside on the first days for supervision and will be there to help direct you and your child. Please plan to say goodbye to your child outside the school as parents will not be permitted to accompany children into the school.
Entry and Exit (New this year)
Grade 1-5 Students enter through any door (except the front door). Flexible entry begins when the bell rings at 7:45am. All students to be seated for learning to begin at 8:00am. All students Grades 1-5 can enter through the parking lot doors until 8:00am. Anyone arriving after 8:00am will need to come to sign in through the main office.
With so many new families joining us we are hopeful that this will keep the 'flow' moving smoothly in our Hug n' Go area which is for drop off and pick up only. If you are walking your child to an outside entrance, a reminder that there is parking available along Mahogany Way for drop off and pick up, parking is not permitted in the Hug n’ Go area or in the Staff Parking Lot. Additionally, there is no drop-off or parking permitted in front of the school on Mahogany Blvd.
Please note that if you are parking on Mahogany Blvd. across the street from the school, you must walk to a crosswalk to cross safely with your child(ren). Do not send your child(ren) across the street on their own or run across with them - as you know this road can be very tricky and fast, we want to be careful of everyone's safety and ensure all our students and families begin the day positively. Thank you all for your help keeping our transportation complexities in mind. We appreciate you!
New! Kindergarten students will enter and exit the building through the front doors of the school. At the end of the day, a teacher will ensure hand-off of students to an approved adult.
Kindergarten|
Kindergarten students will begin their school year using a staggered entry for one day on August 31, 2023, allowing students to be grouped in smaller numbers and to become comfortable and familiar with their new school, the kindergarten teachers, and their daily routines. Students are to enter and exit through their regular Kindergarten doors (the main entrance on Mahogany Blvd.). There is no school for Kindergarten students on Friday, September 1, 2023, regular AM/PM classes and times begin on Tuesday, September 5.

- AM student last name beginning with A – K attend 8:15am – 9:30am
- AM student last name beginning with L– Z attend 9:45am – 11:00am
- PM student last name beginning with A – K attend 11:30pm–12:45pm
- PM student last name beginning with L– Z attend 1:00pm – 2:15pm
- September 1 (Friday)- NO SCHOOL for all Kindergarten students
- September 1 -You will receive an e-mail from your child's teacher by the end of the day today
- September 5- Regular classes begin
- All AM students 8:00-10:50am
- All PM students 11:40am-2:30pm
- September 8 (Friday) - AM Kindergarten Students only
